Event Description:
In light of recent raw sewage releases into the Flint River from the City of Albany, Flint Riverkeeper is holding a public meeting in Albany addressing users’ concerns. Flint Riverkeeper will provide updates on the status of the Albany sewer situation, what Flint Riverkeeper is doing regarding it, what citizens can do, timelines for remedy and prevention, expectations for protecting water quality, possible outcomes and the pathways to achieve appropriate remedy and future prevention of raw sewage discharges from the City of Albany’s sewer system. This is a public meeting open to all Flint River users and other interested parties. The meeting will be held Tuesday, July 31st from 6:30-8pm at the Episcopal Church of St. John and St. Mark located at 2425 Cherry Laurel Lane, Albany, GA 31705. A public meeting is also set in Bainbridge to discuss these same issues on Monday, July 30th from 6:30- 8pm at the Decatur County Extension Building’s Cloud Livestock Facility Classroom located at 1300 East River Road, Bainbridge GA. The mission of Flint Riverkeeper® is to restore and preserve the habitat, water-quality, and flow of the Flint River for the benefit of current and future generations, and dependent wildlife. FRk is non-profit 501(c)3 corporation and a fully-licensed member of the Waterkeeper® Alliance, an active leader of the Georgia Water Coalition, a member of Georgia River Network, an EarthShare of Georgia member group, and maintains current Chamber of Commerce memberships in seven Flint River communities.
